Words I wrote for my most recent mini-coffee-table book

THE LOG

Wow. When seeing this expressive dramatic log,
awareness shifts, imagination revels in possibility.

What do you see?
Move your gaze (tilt your head) to the left of the fallen log
and you might see a fish with mouth and eye wide open.
Shift your perspective to the right (without the open fish-mouth).
You might think of horror, and ‘The Scream’ by Edward Munch.

Looking at the whole picture: a log with an open mind declares loudly
how a long ago a fallen tree lived a very rich and varied life,
and is now a work of art.
Or maybe it just coughed up the stone next to its mouth.

You may never look at driftwood in the same way again.

You have a lot of imagination, Nirvan!!! At first glance, I thought of a moray head waiting for its prey with its mouth open. BV. Anna

From the thumbnail it looked like a fish, but thanks to the great verse I see other possibilities. Fascinating capture.

the most intriguing images are often ambiguous, and fertile material for an open mind...bravo for spotting this and noting the possibilities..

I love this driftwood shot (and great poem). When I saw the thumb I thought it was a fish, then I thought it was an interesting freeform sculpture. Many ways to look at this as you note. VV

A very interesting two-faced piece of driftwood. V
