SPRING SNOWMELT

Shining ribbons of snowmelt float down
in a silken drift of misting spray.
10,000 years of water kissing rock.

Young green leaves drink from
the mountain’s cast-off winter blanket.

For 10,000 years mighty rivers below
feed land and ocean,
flow back as cloud for mountain snow.
