i live upstairs in an old house with cedar shake siding - at some time holes were drilled to shoot in insulation and some of the holes were never covered over - i counted 9 when i walked around the house. it's a boon for birds in spring. this year three couples stayed to nest - starlings, finches and black capped chickadees.
