not such a pretty sight. lake cushman was originally a natural long narrow broadening of the Skokomish River formed in a glacial trough and dammed by a terminal moraine from the last ice age. then a dam was built creating the current lake/reservoir. not sure of the reasoning behind leaving the tree stumps. they're usually not so visible when the water's high.
