The Crowhurst Yew, one of the oldest trees in England, pre-dating the arrival of William the Conqueror, has been shortlisted by the Woodland Trust in its Tree of the Year contest, to crown England’s favourite tree.
Wally and I drove down to Crowhurst to see this remarkable tree. It is reputedly at
least 4000 years old with a large hollow in the middle and a door.
It was a wet and grey day but the tree was so fascinating we spent a couple of hours
taking pictures. This one was just for size comparison. :)
