Sir Thomas More (1478-1535)
Sir Thomas More was a major figure in the reign of Henry VIII. A leading Roman Catholic, Thomas More was also a supporter of the Humanist movement.

More opposed the move to what was termed the Reformation in England – a stance that led to his being executed.
