Along the BNSF Sunset main, the highway follows the railroad with an unobstructed view for almost 15 miles. There are several rural crossings, most of which have "traditional crossbuck" warnings.
Freight trains pass thru this spot at 55 mph, Amtrak passes this spot at 70 mph.
Why would someone dare to cross a track out here with a train coming ???
This photo was taken at a rural crossing in Acadia Parish. There was no train coming, and we were stopped behind the crossbuck - stop sign. Always respect railroad crossings, always expect a train, don't become a statistic.
