Orleans Parish - New Orleans -Katrina water line

A personal photo here. In 2005 hurricane Katrina hit the Louisiana-Mississippi border. The levee system built after Hurricane Betsy in 1965 failed causing long term flooding in many areas of the city.

I was in the Army in Korea in 1965 but mother told me there was water in the street but not in anyone's home. We lived on what was called Gentilly Ridge, said to be the highest point of New Orleans.

Fast forward to Katrina in 2005, the levees broke. This is the water line from a house a block away from where I grew up Verbena Street and Franklin Ave. I was told the water remained for 2 weeks
