General Robert E Lee's statue has overlooked the junction of St Charles and Howard Ave since 1884
The statue is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
In 2015 a motion was filed as part of a movement to remove remnants of the Confederacy which promoted slavery. It was argued that Lee had done nothing for the City of New Orleans, in fact he nervy set foot in the state of Louisiana. The issue is now in the hands of the federal court system
As far as we can tell, the statue remains in place.
