The main building of Ormond was built in 1790 The home changed many times, and began to fall into disrepair after the Civil War, it's condition worsening until the 1930 when it was purchased by the Brown family (owners of Brown's Velvet Diary) and restoration began The home is the oldest French West Indies style home on the Mississippi River
The home is open to the public for tours and also serves as a bed and breakfast
