In the early 1800's Simeon Patot emigrated to Louisiana from France. He wanted to establish a winery but the climate was too tropical to grow the grapes. He learned to successfully grow cane on Enterprise Plantation. His second wife took over the operation and despite the US Civil War Enterprise became the most successful producer of sugar cane. The family has kept up with modernization in farming harvesting and production techniques over the years and in now one of the most successful cane operations.
