The church was built in 1858 During the US Civil War Union troops occupied the building defacing much of the contents. Legends have that it was used as both a horse stable and a hospital. The building was restored and is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
It is the oldest Episcopal church building in the district of western Louisiana
