Dallas County - Dallas - Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge

Dallas' newest attraction, the bridge spanning the Trinity River, just north of the downtown area.

The bridge spans almost 1200 feet across the river floodplain, and the center support arch is 400 feet tall.

The bridge was named after Margaret Hunt Hill, daughter of oil magnate H L Hunt. Unfortunately she died at 91 just a few days prior to the groundbreaking for the bridge.

One of the purposes of the bridge, in addition to alleviate traffic, is to open the area of west Dallas to development.

This photo was taken from the 7th floor of the former Texas School Book Depositary Building, of the place where the shot that killed President John F Kennedy in 1963 was fired. No photos are allowed on the 6th floor museum, but photography is allowed on the 7th floor.

Impressive bridge, thanks for showing us. I've been to the Book Depository, but a long time ago.
