This shot was taken from Rockwall looking toward downtown Dallas, 23 miles away. Looking west over the cities of Rowlett and Garland.
It amazes us, before we moved here, we thought of Dallas - Ft Worth as just that, City of Dallas and city of Ft Worth. Of course there were Irving, Garland, and Grand Prairie in between. But when you get here, or look at the map, there are almost a hundred smaller (15-100 thousand, if you call that small) cities that make up Dallas - Ft Worth.
Lake Ray Hubbard was constructed in the late 1960's submerging a lot of acreage of the western part of Rockwall County. It's recreational value has far surpassed the agricultural loss.
