The grounds of the restaurant where we went for lunch after the Otavalo market. The restaurant was in a former country estate, Pinasqui, a hacienda, and had a large white building behind a white wall with a swinging iron gate and a circular drive wrapped around a lawn and trees. The hacienda also had bedrooms available to travelers. The building was an interesting one as the rooms were all large, and the halls connecting them were also large. Construction costs per square foot were presumably not a concern to the original owners. It was built in the late 1700s we were told, but needed a major rebuild after a major earthquake in 1867.
