June 5, 2006. Michael Bradstreet Harbour Grace Tour -- Day One
Following the NCC meeting Ontario NCC Vice President and inveterate peripatetic explorer, Michael Bradstreet, conducted a three day excursion to Harbour Grace Newfoundland and places north, for those not fortunate enough to be part of the more ambitious and challenging Griffin/Dalglish tour. On the first day, the Bowles, Sheldon and Penny, and the Bradstreets, Michael and Lynn, managed to make a full day out of the St John's to Harbour Grace trip by an extended breakfast in St. John's, slowly driving around the southern shore of Conception Bay and a long lunch in Brigus, where we inspected Hawthorne Cottage, home of famed Arctic explorer Bob Bartlett. At the end of the day we checked into the Rose Manor --- a beautifully restored 125-year-old home on Harbour Grace waterfront, now run as a B & B by the owners, Lucy and Kevin Haire.
