Old world Swallowtail is a large Butterfly.
We can find it across Europe and Asia, and Alaska to Canada.
This nice Butterfly shows a wingspan of 8 to 10 cms, and an elongated tail with red spot on each hind wing.
Swallowtail may live in alpine meadows during summer, at relatively high elevations.
During summer, this species hovers above flowers to get the nectar, and feeds in gardens at lower elevations during winter.
Swallowtails living in northern areas of the range produce only one brood, but usually, they can produce two to three per year. Female lays the eggs on plants, and usually on Umbeliferae family.
