Painted Lady has a wingspan of 51 to 73 mm.
This species lives in open sunny areas, gardens, old fields and dunes.
It can be found everywhere in the world, except Australia and Antarctica.
Painted Lady is migratory; northern butterflies migrate southwards to hibernate.
They feed on nectar from thistles, asters and cosmos, but other flower’s families are visited.
Female lays its eggs on plants such as thistles.
This species is common and widespread.
