Small Cooper is a small butterfly, with 21 to 30 mm of wingspan.
It lives in open areas with flowers, and it can be found at up to 2000 m of elevation.
This species lives in Europe, temperate Asia, Japan, and from North Africa to Kenya.
It likes sunbathes on the ground, with semi-open wings. It is very aggressive, chasing away all intruders from its territory. It gets nectar from many varied flowers.
Female lays single eggs on stems or leaves.
