Large White is relatively large, with 65 mm of wingspan. It is mainly white with dark patches at the tip of the wings for both sexes, and some black spots on the wings for female, larger than male.
This species lives in North Africa and Western Europe where it can be found at 1800 to 2000 m of elevation. It feeds mainly on cabbages, and may damage cultivations.
Female lays numerous yellow eggs (20 to 50) under the leaves, sometimes above, on varied plants of Crucifer family.
