Hunter Valley

Just before hitting the Blue Mountains and Sydney we had a 2 night stay at the superbly located "Sovereign Hill Country Lodge and Vineyard" in Hunter Valley, Australia's East Coast wine region. We were lucky as the whole place was ours, just the owner John, former Qantas pilot was around. John and his wife (Betty, travelling in Sydney at that time) started their little vineyard a few years ago and produce a great little wine. Their lodge is an absolute must: great place, great view, cheap, very quiet, huge barbecue available, swimming pool, tennis court, great host and other vineyards available for visits in the neighborhood. We did taste a lot of the local wines, offered ourselves good barbecue with great private view on the whole region from our terasse... among the top souvenirs of our holidays !!! Thanks, John !
