In 1996, I had the chance to stay on the Tundra Buggies Camp just outside of Churchill, Hudson Bay. I was there for around ten days, and over that time, I took these photos of the bears on the ice. They were waiting for the sea ice to freeze over, so they could go out and hunt. They would be sparring from around dawn for a few hours. Then they tended to lazy around in the daytime and start again in the evening. The temperature was around -10C at the camp, but it did not feel that cold at the time.

The year before I stayed in Churchill and went out each day. You do see the bears, but to see them sparring, it is best to stay on the camp.
