I was wondering if you culd help me figure out something abut the metz flashes new and old. I figured out that a nikon d70 can work as a mster to trigger a slave flash- it doesn't have apc spcket. However, I bought a metz 45 cl-4 and am awaiting a 58 af-1. How can I get allthree of these to work together...i there a way or have I just wasted a ton of money. Iwas essntially trying to get three lights. The camera shop near me saidalthogh the d70 would talk t the 58 , I wouldn't be able to get the 45 l-4 to "listen" and respond and ignore any pre flashes. There must be a way!!!! alexmcvicar@hotmail.com

WSUP NHL. I SAW UR PIX ON THE STEVES DIGI CAM FORUM. I LOVED THE MACRO SPIDER PIK. MY WIFE JUS ORDERED ME A SIGMA 105, IM NEW TO MACRO FOTOGRAPHY. CAN U XPLAIN TO ME IN EASY TERMS UR STATEMENT..........

IMO flash is essential to macro photography unless you want to use a tripod since one needs to close the lens down quite a lot to maximize the DOF. My camera is usually set to manual but the flash remains on automatic E-TTL so I can control the amount of fill.
To decrease the flash harshness at close quarter I also use the built-in diffuser but this tend to decrease the GN signicantly -> Try to get the most powerful flash that you can as sometime you have to overcome the daylight for your fill

The 100-400L with flash:

DO U NEED FLASH FOR MACRO PHOTGRAPHY. WONT THE FLASH OVER XPOSE THE SHOT. WHATS A IMO FLASH, E-TTL, BILT IN DIFFUSIER, GN, WHAT DO THESE THINGS MEAN AND DO. I HAV A NIKON D60, I WOULD LOVE TO TAKE MACRO PIX BUT I WOULD LOVE SOMEONE TO XPLAIN TO ME WHAT I NEED AND HOW TO DO IT IN EASY TERMS. CAN U GET AT ME ASAP.

MY EMAIL FNGTF84@AOL.COM

THANX FOR UR TIME. BY THE WAY UR PIX R INCREDIBLE

picturethis here, Just saying hello, checked out your site, awesome!
Question: Are you a fan of the Nhl??? As in ice hockey!:}

I, too, need the 420ex.pdf file. The flash I ordered came with a french manual as well.

I enjoyed your gallery of St. Thomas. Brings back memories for me. I am working on my gallery of St. Thomas so swing by one day to take a view. :-)

Hi NHL (I don't know your real name)...what an incredible job you have done in capturing nature in the way you have...GREAT EFFORT and a credit to you!

You wrote on stevesforum.com in january...

It's true that you'll need an E-TTL compatible flash to use all the 'new' features of the 20D; However you can still use your 'old' flash with the new body. In fact I use a dual-head Metz 45CT-5 sometime...

I have the same combination (20D with a metz 45CT-5) but don't know how to set up the flash to sync off the 20D...treat me as dumb and can you step me through it? What do I need such as a particular sync cable, a hotshow adapter or anyother device...Thanks in advance, Don McNicol

I see that you have the Canon 420EX.pdf, is it possible that you could send
it to a Norwegian by e-mail, since i just bought this flash in a shop in Scotland,
and there where only a French user manual inside the box. ??

Thanks a lot,
Best regards Erling Dagsland Bryne Norway

To 10D or not to 10D Looking at your photo's and enjoying them I see the difference in cameras. I have fallen into the photo pit.. First camera a Kodak 215, then Nikon 990, Dimage 7i. They have all are good cameras and have their uses. I enjoy macro and landscape photography. The burning issue having never owned a multiple lens camera is lenses. Any advice would be appreciated.

you have some amozing pictures with the Dimage and the coolpix....

is ther reason for the 10D pics not beeing as vivid only due to not having it that long and not having taken as much pics with it?

Are you happy with the 10D?

I would like to buy one but at the price I would like to make sure I buy somehting that will last me for at least 3-5 years.

I would highly appreciate your input on a zoom lens for it too...

had been looking at the canon EF 90-300 USM...... what are the pros and cons one has to be carefull for in buying a zoom

I'm very new at all this but are getting completely fedup with the little sony I have as I cannot play with it.

I'd like to grow into the camera and lenses but also have some easier setting if I sorta get stuck

yours sincerely

xsteen

NHL do you mind if I call you I have some questions on the Dimage 7i. I thought you might not mind if I called. Some things are hard to ask in the forums.

Thanks,
Dwayne
