He was 10 years old as I took this picture,
but this is the first time he enjoyed a Christmas time.
In the previous 10 years, I kept attempting to escape out of Vietnam by boat.
With some 20 failures that prompted police to hunt for me,
I had set my family permanently on the run.

Finally, the boy had a chance to taste X'mas season with all its meanings.
