On my first Turkey Day,
I am not ready yet for a piece of turkey.
Instead,
Mommy let me try
the first taste
on a longan,
which is a very familiar tropical fruit
available at local Houston Asian markets
that I will enjoy
every year.
The name longan derives from 龙眼 in Chinese
– which means "dragon eye" –
or "nhăn" (eye) in Vietnamese.
