The LaMartaine House (on the map - #9 yellow)
This is a typical and striking example of old Plovdiv's symmetrical house architecture. Being a home of the Mavridi family, it is named after the French poet Alphonse de LaMartaine, who stayed here in 1833 while writing "Voyage en l'Orient" and during his diplomatic mission in Turkey.
(The house is a Residence hall of the Bulgarian Writers Union)
