We honeymooned at Club Med Eleuthera in August 1984. So sorry to see that we can't go back. We never had a more relaxing vacation in a more beautiful location. The most beautiful fish we have ever seen. The largest grouper I have ever seen. While snorkeling and concentrating face down, got stuck atop the coral. Who knew that could sting so much! A learning experience. Have photos of my bride wading in the water and tossing bread crumbs as the surf boils with small fish like piranhas. We still have our small jar of pink sand. The food was outstanding, and so was the fun. "Haut les mains! Donne moi ton coeur!" Oh, the memories!

I was the G.O. DJ & lighting engineer for the stage shows in the Summer of 1982. Jean Morgue was the Chef de Village at that time. I will always remember that summer for always and now that I'm married I want to take my wife to site that was once "my paradise island".

I was a GO (scuba)under JP Bernus at Club Med Eleuthera in the winter of 1982. Such a beautiful place, and diving the wall of Exuma Sound was spectacular. So many great memories, it's very sad to see photos of the place now in ruins.

Scuba GO in 95...what a wonderful experience. Still in touch and send Christmas cards to my fellow GO friends. thank goodness I have the unique experience of being a GO, it helps when the laundry piles up and the kids are screaming. I remember the days of carefree diving and running the sunset cruises with Capt. Doug. We hope to go back as a family when all of my kids can swim!

My son and I e njoyed a most fabulous holiday here in February 1997. It was absolutely wonderful. The GO's were all exceptionally kind and looked after us very well indeed. The food, accommodation and activities were second to none. We thoroughly enjoyed everything about the place. Evening entertainment was also of a very high standard.....Always hope to return here one day. Fran Butcher xxxxx

In the 60s what became The Club Med was a resort called French Leave. It, or part of it anyway, burned and closed. The property was later purchased and became The Club Med. Anyone have photos of the old French Leave. It was the most beautiful and romantic plate anyone could imagine. I was there with a male friend who I should have married...and didn't and now he has died. But the memories live on.

Does anyone here remember a resturant in a hotel? calledthe french Leave back in 1965-1968 on Eleuthera south side as I remember. We were stationed there and would go for dinner and dancing I heard a hurricane did some damage but I afraid I haven't heard of any repairs or see any further mention of it. I would appreciate if anyone knows what happended to it and where it was located exactly on the island. At that time also there was a Arnold Palmer golf course being developed with a resturant on the site as well however I never saw it complted has anyone know of this thanks for your time

Terese Garifo here. I was a Kids' Club/Baby Club GO circa 1985. Ram's daughter, little Elodie was the Club's baby. Yvette! Marie-Yvonne! Flo! Manon! Kevin! Alan! Where is everyone?? I married Chris Green from the Circus and we had four kids! Anyone have other pix?? This was one of the greatest times of my life!!!!

I spent the summer of 1986 here when I was 10 years old. My first kiss, my first girlfriend, my first everything. Great place, great memories. One of the most beautiful places I've ever been. It's too bad it's gone, but it makes the fact that we were all there even more special. And... it was always meant to be the way it is now.

Went back last week to see the site...it's been 28 years since we met there. The pink sand beach is still beautiful but area very overgrown. Still no construction...just deserted. What a shame.

I was a GM @ Eleuthera during the Summer of 1983. My daughter was a member of the mini club and enjoyed fun and games at the "PlayCare" center. I loved to water ski on a slalom and amaze the GM's with my "wake jumping" abilities. Penny, I'm glad you took the plunge and learned to ski as well. You and Marcia will always be with me in mind and spirit. It was a most memorable time and loads of fun. Especially the meals at night and the skits and comedy show put on by the G.O.'s The Chef de Village was Alain from au Canada, and the meals were scrumptous. So Hurricanes come and Villages go. Now Club Med becomes "French Leave"? Well, I must take leave and return there someday. Just to buy another Dashiki. Still have my souvenir White Canvas Golf/Beach cap. Wore it on the French Riviera. Best wishes to all who have been or will go there. P.S: Eleuthera is a Greek word that means "Freedom". I felt pretty free on the isle and club of the same name. Viva Eleuthera!!

Boy, I sure remember the huricane parties, picnics, and the marina. Why they never restored this club is beyond me. I use to take boat rides with Dallas after he was done taking people out snorkeling. Yea, that is going back, but i was a regular there for many years. My hair was darker and I was skinny, but Eleuthera still remains the island you are always searching for. Visit me at ashworthdive.com and see if you remember me. I got my CMAS diving card from Pinky who wanted a little more than to buddy dive. My first trip to this club was greated with everyone around the bar singing "You may not get laid, but you'll learn to juggle." I looked at my wife and asked her what she got me into. It only took three days and I had transformed into a Club Medder! I visited from the mid 80's until the club closed. I was there for two huricanes and befriended Bruce the bus driver. I sure do miss it. I find myself looking at property there often. Thanks for the memories in these pictures. Jim

Frederique thanks for the pics. This is very moving for me as it was one of the best holidays we ever had in life. This was for me and our 2 girls like paradise (summer 95). I traveled a lot snce then but nothing compared to Eleuthera pinky sandy beach. As I read recently evrything has been demolished and a new luxury resort called "French Leave" is beeing built. Thanks again.

This was the best vacation we have ever had. Our children were small. I would waterski, and my husband would sail. The friends we met were unforgettable. I loved this place. If the atlantic side was too rough, you could walk across the island to the other side. Club Med, take it back!!

WES(SPORTS TEAM) I STARTED WORKING AT CLUB MED AT THE AGE OF 12YRS OLD AFTER SCHOOL IN THE EVENING,DURING THE SCHOOL SUMMER BREAK. MY HOME WAS AND STILL IS TEN MINUTE WALK FROM THE VILLAGE. IT WAS THEN AND AT THAT AGE I KNEW A "GO" IS WHAT I WANTED TO BE,I MASTERED MANY WATER SPORTS AT THE MARINA AT AN EARLY AGE THANKS TO THE GREAT "GENTILE ORGANISER" OVER THE YEARS. STUMBLING ON THESE PICTURES REMINDS ME OF THE MANY GREAT PEOPLE AND FRIENDS I HAVE MET AND WORKED WITH.AFTER WORKING AT FIVE DIFFERENT VILLAGES, BESIDES ELEUTHERA BEING HOME IT STILL REMAINS MY FAVORITE CLUB MED OF ALL, NOT TO TAKE AWAY FROM THE QUALITIES THAT THE OTHER VILLAGES OFFERED.

This was my fourth village, and I married another GO I met here. Eleven years strong now. Is anyone intreseteed in a former GO web site? I'm thinking of starting one up. Find old friends, lovers etc. I was here for Andrew and have great after the hurricane photos.

My first Club Med village. I came as a guest and ended up working for the Club four more seasons after this - I could have done all of my seasons here. Paradise on Earth. Forget Disneyland, this is "the happiest place on earth". The locals and the GO team made this place for me. Beautiful location and beautiful people. Many of the friends I made here are still with me today and are some of my best friends. I will always have a place in my heart for Eleuthera.

This is so cool! My friends passed this page on to me, we were all GO's at Club Med Eleuthera at some point between 1989 and 1992. As my good friend Jane said..."oh the good ol' days of pink sand, Fish Buffet, buying a beer with 3 yellow beads, doing the French can-can, playing dominos at Ronnie's and face painting 50 kids in 30 minutes! I was a G.O. at Club Med Eleuthera Nov 1987 - May 1988. Thank you for this beautiful collection of photographs of this wonderful Club Med village. I especially like the diversity of the pictures at the village as well as the ones outside of the village. I was responsible for the transportation of the guests to/from the island so the picture from inside the taxi while on the road to the airport, and the photograph of the Key Air Charter plane are both very meaningful to me.
