This was truly the best birding experience I've had yet. I'm enthralled by seabirds and the tough challenges they face by spending most of their lives on the open ocean, only coming to land to breed. Seeing A Puffin is a treat, seeing thousands is breathtaking. Every winter I scan the oceans and inlets for a mere glimpse of a Razorbill, often not seeing a one. Here on Machias Seal Island, there are thousands, as well as the less common Common Murre. Seeing one of these from land is very rare where I'm from. All of these seabirds are at their most southern breeding range at Machias Seal Island, Maine.
