Here we are - matching his 'n hers bikes. |
A view of Lake Placid from our balcony at the Holiday Inn. |
Peter on our very first trail ride at the far side of Lake Placid. |
At the top of Whiteface Mountain you get a wonderful view of Lake Placid. |
On a clear day you can see for 100 miles, or so they say. Personally, my glasses aren't that strong! But the view was awesome anyway. |
The Monument Mountain trail was far too steep to bring the bikes, so this was was a hiking day, not a biking day out.
Here I am sitting on top of the rock that commemorates Rosalie Butler, the lady who the trail was created in memory of.
|
As you can see, Monument Mountain Trail was MUCH too steep for the bikes!
OK Pete, up go go.
|
Phew, here we are - right at the top of Monument Mountain.
At least we have the easy half to do now - go down!!! |

Brrr, 7:00am and he wants to go swimming in Lake George!
Actually, it wasn't at all cold.
OK Pete, see if you can get to the island and back in 16 minutes again today!
Good job we got you that bright yellow swimming cap Pete, at least the boats can see you now! |
The sun breaks through over the boathouse at The Still Bay Resort while I sit here keeping a watchful eye on Pete doing his early morning swim across to the island. |
I had some company while I waited for Pete to swim back |
Benedict Pond in Beartown State Forest.
This was one of our favourtite picnic spots as a halfway stop around the bike trails.
|
The bike trails were great exercise!
Most of them were well maintained and, apart from the mossy rocks here and there, were fun to ride.
|
The view at the top of Monument Mountain wasn't quite as spectacular as the Adirondack Mountains, but The Berkshire Mountains were still just as hard to climb! |
Ah, this is the life, just sitting beside Benedict Pond at the Beartown State Forest.

The Warren County Bikeway was a great trailway running from Lake George to Glen Falls |
