In July 1986, Life Magazine described Nevada's
U.S. Highway 50 from Ely to Fernly as the
"loneliest road" in America.

Life said there were no attractions or points of interest along
the 287-mile stretch of road and recommended that
drivers have survival skills to travel the route.

For those of us that need and crave the wide open spaces...
I say Great! Leave it just the way we like it!
... non-congested, quiet, peaceful and untainted...to say the least.

of a state highway at rush hour and hear nothing
but the wind on the wing of a circling raven,
