Gold Fever of Jarbidge, Nevada

Gold was discovered in this isolated area of Jarbidge in 1909.
A total of $9 million was produced.
On a cold stormy December 5, 1916 the last stagecoach robbery
and murder in the history of the west took place in Jarbidge Canyon,
1/4 mile south of the town.

jarbidge has not changed much. we first went in the early 70's. It is still the same small town.Some cabins restored,but still no cell service. well worth the trip.

Opps again, that was "skip tender," for Arnold Albertson's job Mar 1941 to Oct 1941 at the Gold Mine in Jarbidge.

Any photos of the gold mine from the 1930s, 1940 before it closed in Oct 1941? My Dad was the "goal tender" there Mar 1941 to Oct 1941 before it closed.

As a kid, I used to fish, hike, and tromp around this area with my Dad, and the lower foothills to the North down into 3 Creek ID. A beautiful area and one I have missed seeing again....57 yerars ago. I went to school in Buhl, ID. We farmed there, but also had a dryfarm at Roseworth. We wintered cattle for the Patrick family (3 Creek) at our farm South of Buhl during the early 1950's.
Thanks for the great pictures that brings back a lot of fond memories.
