Our interest in ethnic diversity in India has led us for the second time to the Tirap District in southeast Arunachal Pradesh. Here Wancho and Nocte tribes have settled. The first time mainly the Wanchos fascinated us, and we believed that the Noctes were all westernized. This time we visited rather traditional Nocte villages, where people proudly told us that only 30 years ago they still went headhunting. And whereas most Wancho villagers have meanwhile buried their skulls, these trophies are still displayed in some Nocte villages.
