We drove for about 3 hours from Biei to Sounkyo. For the first time in my life i experienced onsen at Sounkyo. The very famous waterfalls at Sounkyo National Park did not impress me, although i feel that the place will be very charming in winter with all the red maple leaves. Asahiyama is famous for its zoo, but we visited a ramen village instead and queued for two ramen restaurants to try out some of the best ramen (as claimed by the restaurant) in Hokkaido. On way to Lake Toya, we passed by some potato fields where the plants are flowering. Nice light-purplish flowers! We did not spent much time at Lake Toya though - the place was hazy that day. We enjoyed an afternoon tea before departing to Noboribetsu.
