This lens is just as sharp as the 70-200 f/2.8 IS at 200mm. The colors and contrast are just as nice. Without IS, it is mostly suitable for the outdoor use and for that, it does very well.

I got this lens as a light weight alternative to the 70-200 f/2.8 IS. It did extremely well in the 2006 Renaissance Festival shoot. I was going to bring this lens to Italy as my light weight closeup lens but changed my mind after I learned the no carry on policy during the time of my travel. Because of that, there aren't many photos taken with this at this point. I hope to change that as the time goes on.
