Japanese of two generations, farmers and fishermen, were interned in camps for the entire length of World War Two. The animus of the Asian people in general was amplified by the attack on Pearl Harbor The government consensus was they would house spies for Japan.
As it turned out there were No spies for Japan and the younger men fought against Germany while their families were interned. Since they couldn't make payment or taxes on their property they lost it. Some minimal reimbursement came approximately 40 years later.
