Tornado, 1991

This is Tornado Season now in the Midwest and it can be active here in Kansas. This happened to be the moment, based on the exact time, that a Jeep Cherokee vehicle was thrown into the second story of a new Boeing plant, fortunately unoccupied. My house at the time was in direct line with this plant 3 miles away and adjacent to the one that I worked in. I had raced home, grabbed my camera and took this picture from my garage. As it started to come my way I ran to the basement and joined my wife. We were lucky this time. Another time a few years later we were hit causing some damage.
Note. Thinking that it had never been seen on pbase. I posted it. Now I found it was shown a number of years ago.

Had to come back and admire this one again. The mood and energy are palpable.

well done to show your nerve in the face of such a threat..

What an amazing shot. Kinda figured a shooter like you would run for the camera before running for cover. Spent years in Indiana so pretty familiar with the tornado threat, but never experienced one.

They are so tricky and scary, jump, skip, stop ,start.... can't blame you for grabbing the shot on the way...

Glad you got the great shot and also glad there was no harm done after the shot.
Any form of Tornado is bad news .

Exceptionally well made and potent image. The low shadows in the foreground and the sky with the menacing funnel dominating the frame really convey the mood and danger. I feel like I am there.
