Funny, I was going to say the same thing, as what you mention in the caption.

A beautiful scene Neil. The tones are gorgeous, like a classic Ansel Adams. V

Such a different feeling between the two. But still, the bird gets the prize for freedom!
Ted Teodoro12-Apr-2020 22:06
wonderful contrast and composition

I have now flipped back and forth between the two photos several times and while I like this in black and white I also like it very much in color. V

This is simply excellent. Bravo!

I am a 90% colour kind of a guy. But this is squarely in the 10% Black and White category. The Black and White version has the soul of the prairies in it. It captures what I love about living on the prairies. Big V

Agree, much better in b&w. Really like the layers with the fence and cloudscape. The dead tree and soaring bird add so much. "V"

Beautiful artistry here, Neil. It's an invitation to get away and I relate to the bird soaring over everything.

Very foreboding scene in mono...VT!
Dan Greenberg12-Apr-2020 16:39
I definitely agree. The B&W makes me focus more on all the wonderful contrasts of textures and tones. ~BV~

The clouds are awesome in B&W ! V.
Marcia Rules12-Apr-2020 15:55
An extremely appropriate image for these times. Are we really fenced in
or is there hope? BV

The monochrome version seems just right!
The feeling of place is powerful here!

I agree, Neil. Much as I love the colour version this has a greater impact. The clouds and overall tones are marvellous.
