I like the effect of your inclusion of the spotlight. The light complements the charming artwork. Well done, Neil.

It appears that the spotlight is the light shining onto the girl in the painting. I think it is a masterful composition! V

If your goal is to make this a pure documentary shot of the artwork then I suggest you crop in much tighter to not only remove the light, but also to provide a better view of the art. As it stands, however, it is a bit provocative in that the light in the painting co-mingles with the light from the lamp, which creates an interesting and curious effect which I prefer.

What a neat photo. When I opened this up it was on my iPad and spotlight was cut out. It wasn't until I read your caption and scrolled down did I see the light. I think it needs to stay to give it a sense of place. I absolutely love the painting and the photo is pretty special too. Nice work Neil! V

can't help but wonder just what would be visible without the spotlight...the combination of innocence and engagement is captivating...

I agree with Daniel, that one gets the feeling the the lighting on the girl is coming from the spotlight. I might clone out the sign on the right. "V"

This is a terrific image of this beautiful artwork. I'm in two minds about the spotlight. Excellent photography.

Neil, this is just perfect to include the spotlight : It seems that the light on the little girl and the sofa come from the spotlight ! This is just a great idea. V.
