Deserted Farm near Smalleyberg, Kansas

I came across this deserted farm and looked at the remnants of a family's hard existence. I wondered about the hopes and dreams of this family and why they were torn asunder.

It looks like it was good at one time. Maybe the kids grew up and moved away. Called away by a better life after higher education, being in the military or just going to where the jobs are. The old folks left behind to fade away and this is the only reminder that they were here. Just a thought about what has happened so many times and so many places.

I love this image! The fenceposts walk us, the viewers, through time to see this once-lovely farm in its last days. The fact that the farmhouse is positioned between the posts really draws my eye. And the black and white processing is gorgeous, very fitting for this image. Very nice!

Past glory so well captured. The tones makes the history more dramatic. BV
