Iguanas from S. Florida

These are several of the iguanas that live along the canals in South Florida. They eat fruit, flowers, and vegetables and the occasional worm or bug, live in the trees, and bother no one. The brightest ones are the juveniles (less than 2 yrs) and the next brightest, most colorful are the females. The males tend to be darker and less colorful (like Big Daddy).

Iguanas are raised in captivity and hunted in some parts of Latin America to be sold as pets or food. That skewer of meat you get from the street vendor could be "Bamboo Chicken".
