This little guy was only about 2" long. Taken, hand-held, with a Nikon 105mm VR macro lens. Post-processing noise reduction, using Noise Ninja. ISO 1600.

That is about the right size for this time of the year. I am hoping to see some of mine this year too. I saw some just after they hatched but nothing since.

Isabel: I'll keep an eye out for him (her?). Maybe I can document the critter's growth cycle! This was the smallest one I have ever seen.

So THAT'S where my babies went! All that tender loving care I gave them last year and they flew the coop! Harumph! Be aware that they usually stay put in the same area, so you'll probably have more photo ops from this guy. Isabel
