Hi Bill,

I was just checking out your photo again before seeing your response and realized that, since your photo was taken from above, the hills in the foreground would have to be the closest thing to the lens. I then read your comment that your lens was practically on top of these hills and that confirmed it. Thanks for your response. I was concerned because I have seen photos by the LX3 posted with distant views of buildings looking fine on the right side but unsharp on the left side. BTW, I have the Panasonic LX3 on order since early June. Original estimated shipping was 24 June, but it got moved to Aug 15th. Meanwhile, I have been again comparing photos on PBASE for both the Panasonic LX3 and the Canon G10. The photos taken with the G10 seem to be a bit sharper and the colors seem to be a bit nicer. However, the Panasonic gives better low light photos and has a 24MM which I have on my Nikon SLR and I find that I would miss it. Some LX3 photos seem to have a artsy blur to the photo. Not sure if that is the camera or a special option within he camera. Since you obviously chose the Panasonic over the Canon, I am curious to hear why you did so. Thanks. Wayne

Wayne: Thanks for calling my attention to this. With an f2.0 macro shot, depth-of-field is VERY shallow, even with the great depth-of-field provided by the LX3's 24mm. The areas on the right and left were almost touching the camera's lens and the focus was on the building, truck and bridge. There is also another factor in play with this shot. I looked at the entire image under high magnification and there is some obvious camera movement. If you enlarge the image you will find that even the focal point (building, truck and bridge)area is not really sharp, due to camera movement. Bottom line is I do not think there is a lens problem, as similar shots are much sharper edge-to-edge.

Hi Bill,

I'm a bit concerned with your lens. You are shooting at 24MM, yet the front left side and front right side seem to be out of focus. Also, the front center seems to be OK.
