Kristin and I visited the Furienmeister exhibition at the Liebighaus, one of the sculpture museums in Frankfurt. The Furienmeister was a sculptor who lived around 1600 and of whom 25 works survive. No one knows his name or where he lived except that he did spend time in Florence. He carved dramatic likenesses out of ivory, focusing most prominently on likeness of the Furies. This magnificent exhibition, which featured 18 of the Furienmeister works, was the first time a majority of his works were displayed in one place.
