Frozen Snowy Owl

This image was obtained during a major snow squall in which the Snowy was located at the very top of an abandoned hydro pole and appeared to be in a semi-frozen state, as well obvious from the eyelids which are almost frozen shut. There is so much ice built up that you can barely see the eyes.It remained at this location for at least a few hours. I returned later in the afternoon and it was no where to be found! The following day it was in close proximity to this location and remained in this general area until the time was right to return to it's Arctic roots.

Not an easy time for the owl or anybody else. Very brave of you to go out in a blizzard to get this shot. V

Wow, what an incredible shot. Makes you wonder how they survive. Also very aptly named!
