Rideau Canal Locks

Ottawa, Ontario

This image represents the most Northerly leg of Rideau Canal Locks 1-8 leading directly into the Ottawa River, next to the world famous Fairmont Chateau Laurier Hotel, on the right and the Parliament Buildings (Canada's seat of Government), on the left, in downtown Ottawa. The buiding located on the left (in this image) houses the Bytown Museum. It is the oldest building in Ottawa, the former Commissariat building for the Rideau Canal, built in 1827. In the far distance can be seen the City of Gatineau - Hull, Quebec.

Never saw a night shot of the canal before, and this one is great. Nice how the perspective along the locks leads across the river to Hull. V

Love this beautiful night scene along the canal. Excellent composition that just leads your eye to the Ottawa River. One of the places I obviously missed while visiting Ottawa 2 years back. V! :)
