I was in Nassau in the mid 90's on business and walked these very same streets. My fondest memory was stopping in a liquor store and being able to sample the rum. I stayed at the Crystal Palace Resort and Casino. I took a ratty old bus from my hotel to the downtown area and was amazed at how trashy a lot of the homes were on the way. It looked like the people just opened their front doors and tossed their garbage into their front yard. Quite a contrast with the glitz and glam of Paradise Island.
