We won't call this "Indian Summer"...because we're Indians! But...the kite in the tree is torn and will stand guard over the woods until next spring (thank you Charlie Brown!), and then be replaced by an errant new one...the sun has sunk lower in the sky by mid-afternoon and creates shadows where last week there were none. A small sense of melancholy sets in but is replaced by the sweet smell of firewood and fall leaves. What a wonderful time of year!
