Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Ian Pearse has recently received a new Marin Bobcat Trail bicycle.
PCSO Pearse spends around six hours of his working day on his bicycle. That works out at almost 2,200 hours in a year.
Spending this amount of time out and about means that PCSO Pearse has a good knowledge of what is going on in the area and the activity of known offenders.
PCSO Pearse said: “The bike is ideal for all-terrain riding which forms part of my patrol plan.”
Neighbourhood Specialist Officer (NSO) for Tilehurst West PC Tim Emery said: “Ian spends most of his time on bike patrol and is very committed to the area. The bicycles assist in preventing anti-social behaviour and criminal damage, and enable the PCSOs to build up good local knowledge
