A visit to Benmore Botanical Gardens - Dunoon, Argyll, Scotland. May '05.

On Sunday the 23rd May 2005 yet another outing with the Paisley University ‘Wee Campus Walkers’. This time to the Benmore Botanical Gardens across the water from Gourock. A superb visit on a perfect day.

What a place! They are Argyll’s Magnificent Mountain Gardens. Benmore contains one of the finest living collections of rhododendron, with over 400 species represented from the rare to the familiar. Also the entrance way has an impressive Avenue of Giant Redwoods. Established in 1863 these majestic giants are over 50 metres tall!
