The lovely Sicilian garden town of Taormina

Taormina is in the northern part of Sicily and under the shadow of Mt. Etna. Most of the time Etna is covered with smoke and steam from the volcano, so it's difficult to get a picture of the mountain itself.

We start off on a walk through the town with our tour
			The 3-legged jester is a symbol of Taormina
		On our way to the Greek Theater

	Coming up to the theater	The theater was built by the Romans in the 3rd Cent. BC
This is the second-largest ancient theater in Sicily			We can see our ship in the harbor
There are still performances here during the summer	The view from this theater is considered one of the most breathtaking in all of Italy
	The original columns built by the Greeks have been bricked up.	Scenes on our walk back down to the town
I loved all the doorbells on the left			We are walking on the Corso Umberto, the town's main street
We head down a flight of stairs	Looking back up the stairs		I'd hate to try to get a refrigerator through that door.

			We stop for a bite to eat and a beer
